About Ben O'Hara

I am Ben O'Hara, and I have spent the last decade working with contractors. Mostly HVAC, plumbing, roofing, and electrical shops between 2 and 25 trucks. Before that I sold work-truck parts for an industrial supplier in the Midwest, which is where I learned that the only thing slower to change than a contractor's invoicing software is a contractor's marketing software.

This site is the plain-English review I wish I had when I started. No marketing-speak. No fluff. Just real cost-per-booked-job math, after-hours routing notes, and an honest take on which call tracking platform fits which kind of shop. Most of what is written here is what I would tell a friend over coffee at the parts counter on a Tuesday morning.

Why I write this

Most call tracking reviews online are written by software people for software people. They talk about attribution windows, multi-touch modeling, and conversation intelligence. Those things matter, sometimes. They do not matter to a 6-truck HVAC shop deciding whether to spend $70 a month or $300 a month on phone-number rentals.

Contractors deserve a review that talks like a contractor. That is what I am trying to write here. If I get something wrong, the contact page tells you how to send a correction. I will fix it.

How this site makes money

Pamcoal is reader-supported. The site earns a referral commission when readers sign up for tools through affiliate links. The commission does not change the rankings. The methodology is the same for every platform reviewed, including the top pick, CallScaler. If a different platform fit the contractor profile better, it would be ranked first. The math says CallScaler. If that changes, the rankings change.

Pamcoal is operated by an independent reviewer. It is not owned by, employed by, or affiliated with CallScaler or any other call tracking platform beyond the standard affiliate-link relationship.

Editorial standards

Every review on this site is based on a real account, real test calls, and real setup time tracked with a stopwatch. I provision an account, route at least one inbound call from a cell phone, and time how long it takes to wire up a basic after-hours rollover. Operator interviews supplement the hands-on testing. Pricing is verified against vendor sites at the time of publication.
